Biography

Kerri Sinnenberg is a New York-based visual artist whose creative practice has evolved across painting, drawing, sculpture, illustration, mural painting, decorative arts and design for more than three decades.

Her early education in communications was accompanied by a continuing study of art and visual design. Sinnenberg studied drawing and painting while attending Herkimer County Community College and SUNY Plattsburgh and later completed a certificate program at UCLA Extension in computer animation, visual effects and graphic design.

While living in California, she pursued further fine-art study at Lake Tahoe Community College, with an emphasis on painting, drawing, the figure, plein-air painting and sculpture. Her work received multiple honors in student exhibitions, including Best of Show/First Place in Oil Painting, First Place in Drawing for Lily Pads, a pastel work that sold during the exhibition, Second Place in Portraiture, Third Place in Figure Painting, and an Honorable Mention for figurative sculpture.

In 1999, a figurative sculpture Sinnenberg donated for a charity auction benefiting the Lake Tahoe Women's Center was instead acquired by the organization for its new facility and installed prominently in its entryway.

After returning to New York, Sinnenberg established Artistic Dreams, a mural and decorative-painting practice she operated for more than a decade. Her work included commissioned murals, architectural surface treatments, faux finishes and decorative painting for residential and commercial environments. Her work appeared in professionally published interiors and Saratoga-area showcase homes.

For more than 24 years, Sinnenberg has also worked professionally in kitchen and interior design, developing an extensive understanding of color, material, proportion, composition and spatial relationships.

In January 2026, Sinnenberg returned to a sustained independent studio practice and began developing a new body of intuitive abstract paintings. Working primarily in acrylic on canvas and reclaimed cabinetry panels, she paints without predetermined imagery, allowing forms to emerge through layering, movement and response to the surface.

Her paintings frequently suggest botanical structures, figures, waterways, vessels and other organic forms without resolving completely into representation. Reclaimed cabinetry panels have become a particularly meaningful surface, connecting materials from her long career in design with her renewed fine-art practice.

In 2026, Sinnenberg's Emergence of Light was selected for the Albany Center Gallery Summer Art Fest Pop-Up. She was subsequently accepted to Saratoga Arts Fall Art in the Park and continues to develop and exhibit her growing body of contemporary work through Kerri Sinnenberg Studio.

Sinnenberg lives and works in New York's Capital Region.
